This is a paid advert with very but all thoughts are my own.
UK summer is honestly a bit of a gamble. One minute it’s warm sunshine, the next you’re wondering why you trusted the forecast. So I’ve been leaning into little tech bits that just make being at home (and outside) feel easier, cooler, and a bit more enjoyable.
Nothing over the top, just simple things that actually get used rather than sitting in a drawer.

staying cool when i’m filming or gardening
When it gets warm here, it doesn’t really ease you in… it just hits you all at once. So having something to cool me down while I’m outside gardening has been a game changer. That’s when portable Fans come into play!
The Shark ChillPill Portable 3-in-1 Fan, Mist & InstaChill System is one of those things I didn’t think I’d use as much as I do. But it’s been perfect for gardening days when I’m out for ages planting, moving pots around, or just tidying up the space.

It’s also really useful when I’m filming content outside or under bright lights. You know that feeling when everything is fine for about 10 minutes and then suddenly you’re too warm, the air feels still, and you’re trying to pretend you’re not melting? It helps with that. The mist function especially just makes things feel more bearable without being over the top.
If you’re looking for similar ways to stay comfortable when it gets warm, there are loads of options in the range of fans that can make a real difference during hotter days.

a camera i keep reaching for when i’m outside
Summer is when I end up noticing things I’d normally walk straight past. Flowers opening up in the garden, bees on petals, light hitting leaves in a way that just looks softer than usual. Time to grab the Digital Camera.
That’s where the Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo Hybrid Instant Camera has been really nice to use. I’ve been taking it out specifically when I’m around nature or flowers, just to slow down a bit and actually look at what I’m photographing.

It feels a bit different from just snapping everything on my phone. I’ll stop for a second, frame something like a flower in the garden or a little cluster of blooms, and actually think about the shot instead of rushing it.
And the instant print side of it makes it feel more special too. Like a little physical reminder of a moment rather than something that disappears into my camera roll. I love that you can also use this as a stand alone printer to print any photo.
If you’re into capturing everyday life a bit more intentionally, it’s worth looking at different digital cameras – especially if you love nostalgic vibes, documenting nature, flowers, and slow summer moments.

just making summer a bit more comfortable
I think that’s really what I’m aiming for this year – just small things that make summer at home easier.
Not trying to overcomplicate it, just having things that help when it’s hot, or things that make me want to go outside and actually enjoy the space I’ve got.

final thoughts
UK summer will always be a bit unpredictable, but that’s part of it. I’ve just been focusing on making my space work better for me, whether that’s staying cool while I’m outside or taking a bit more time to notice the small things like flowers and light.
It’s less about “perfect summer setup” and more about just enjoying the bits when they happen.
I think that’s why these little tech bits have felt useful this year. They don’t really change summer completely – they just make the everyday moments a bit easier. Like being able to stay out in the garden a bit longer without overheating, or actually stopping to capture something beautiful instead of rushing past it.
And honestly, that’s been enough. Just small comforts, simple tools, and a bit more intention in how I spend my time outside.
Here’s to more slow mornings in the garden, warm evenings that last a bit longer than expected, and noticing the little things that make summer feel like summer ☀️
