Focus on Sustainability | Nordgreen Watch Review

Flashback back to the old analogue Casio times in the 90’s which were just used for telling the time, nowadays watches are definitely more of are a fashion statement and I love that! Enter Nordgreen, there’s nothing more fun than having a chic, minimalist watch match your outfit and jewellery. Don’t you agree?

I have seen Nordgreen watches all over my social media channels so when they contacted me asking if I would like to choose one of their watches to review, I was so extremely excited to try the brand. I am very keen to create sustainable life and their company values sit really well with me.

who are nordgreen?

Danish Duo Pascar and Vasilij had the desire to create high quality, beautifully designed, affordable watches while maintaining the ideal of a sustainable, honest company which put others first. A VERY successful Kickstarter (605% funded within 48 hours) followed and Nordgreen was born. Nord represents the Nordic identity and Green emphasises the sustainability that is so important to the duo.

Nordgreen definitely live up to their name too – as well as using sustainable manufacturers and recycled and recyclable packaging, when you buy a products all customers automatically become part of the Giving Back Programme at no extra cost.

The Danish lifestyle is all about removing the complexities of modern living and appreciating the little things – about having less and enjoying more.

The founders wanted to incorporate this mentality into their watch designs, so they they teamed up with highly regarded Scandinavian designer Jakob Wagner to create their functional, simple, minimal and stylish time telling dreams, which has definitely resulted in some gorgeous, timeless designs.

Nordgreen offers three simple designs in the women’s range – Native, Infinity and Philosopher. After searching (for longer than I care to admit) I eventually chose the 40mm Native with a Black and Rose Gold dial with a Black Mesh strap, my personal style is a little more edgy so I thought this would go with most outfits I wear and I have to admit it does look really swish and cool. I love the minimal design, I’m not a very flashy person so the Nordgreen minimalist style suits me perfectly.

The Native watch is available in four colours – silver, gold, gun metal and rose gold. The straps are available in mesh, nylon, leather and vegan leather. Nordgreen also offer a discounted strap bundle so you can swap and change depending on your mood or style.

This design hits the nail on the head for me, I really like the minimalist style of this watch and I know I’m going to wear it a lot as it is discreet and goes with everything. I chose the 40mm size face as I prefer the aesthetics of a larger watch, but there are smaller sizes available.

I am absolutely loving this watch, I wear it almost daily and the design is timeless, which is something I am very fond of, as part of being sustainable is making the most of something for as long as you can, and this watch will never ‘go out of fashion’ so you’ll all get years of use.

All Nordgreen watches have quartz movement, so time-keeping is always correct. The watch itself is extremely lightweight and doesn’t weigh your wrist down like some other large-faced watches do.

Another plus to Nordgreen, which I love is, as a customer of Nordgreen you instantly become part of the Giving Back Programme – choosing whether you want part of your purchase to go toward providing clean water in Africa, education to a child in India or preserving rainforest in Latin America.
