Anyone else love a deep berry blush but feel too scared to use it? That’s exactly how I felt before trying the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Matte Bouncy Blush.
The shade I was most nervous to try from the collection is “Soulful” a stunning, deep, rich berry tone. At first glance, it looks like it would be absolutely perfect for deeper skin tones. But the question is: can it also work on lighter skin tones? Let’s see.

application on lighter skin tones
The key to making a deeper berry shade work on a lighter skin tone like mine is to avoid going in too heavy-handed. Instead, you only need a light dusting of product to build up the colour gradually.
The blush has a gorgeous soft, squishy texture that feels really satisfying to use and makes blending effortless.
texture & formula
One thing I love about these blushes is that they work beautifully with your fingers as well as brushes. Using your fingers really helps soften and diffuse the product into the skin.
It melts seamlessly into the complexion and leaves a soft matte finish, almost like a sheer veil of colour over the cheeks. The formula is genuinely beautiful – smooth, blendable, and very skin-like.
Top Benefits
Blurring effect:
Soft-focus finish that helps smooth the look of pores and uneven texture for a blurred, airbrushed effect.
Bouncy, lightweight texture:
A putty-to-powder formula that melts into the skin effortlessly without feeling heavy or sticky.
Smooth, seamless wear:
Blends beautifully without clinging to dry patches, fine lines, or skin texture.
Long-lasting colour:
Buildable pigment that stays fresh through the day with resistance to sweat and humidity.
Comfortable matte finish:
Skin-friendly formula that feels soft and non-drying, even with a matte look.

final thoughts 💭
This shade is just… perfection. I’m fully living my berry blush dreams.
I would normally shy away from shades like this, but I wanted to test it on my skin and it actually worked out beautifully.
I’m a fan of pretty much anything Rare Beauty releases, and these blushes are definitely up there with some of my favourite formulas. The texture is incredibly soft and squishy, and the product pan is quite generous, meaning this will last a long time. Excellent.

What do you think of this shade of blush? Would you wear a deep berry blush like “Soulful”? And have you tried any of the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Matte Bouncy Blushes?
