If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know that cruelty-free beauty is something I genuinely care about. I love finding products that perform beautifully while also aligning with my values, so when I heard the news surrounding Charlotte Tilbury’s cruelty-free status, I started looking into alternatives.

For me, it simply means I won’t be repurchasing the products once I’ve finished them. Using up what you already own is the most sustainable choice, but when it’s time to replace them, there are some incredible cruelty-free options out there 🐇✨

for a glowing base

If your favourite product was Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter, I’d recommend trying e.l.f. Halo Glow Liquid Filter. It gives a gorgeous, healthy glow and layers beautifully under foundation or worn on its own for those no-makeup makeup days. 🤍

Another lovely option is Saie Glowy Super Gel, especially if you prefer a fresh, skincare-inspired finish 🌱

A blush is an essential in my makeup routine, something I never skip and a cruelty free good alternative to any of Charlotte Tilbury’s are the MCoBeauty Baby Face Multiuse Cream Sticks.

I have to say they have been absolutely smashing the dupes recently and their blushes are some of my favs. They are super affordable ar just £6 and the pigment pay off is just as good as high end products.

for setting powder

A good finishing powder can completely pull a makeup look together.

I’ve really enjoyed Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Pressed Powder if you’re after a more luxurious option. It blurs without making my skin feel dry, which is always a win.

If you’re looking for something lighter, Kosas Cloud Set Powder gives a really natural finish that doesn’t look heavy on the skin 🐰

for contour and highlight

Cream products are some of my favourites, especially for everyday makeup.

Instead of the Charlotte Tilbury wands, I’d look at the e.l.f. Halo Glow Contour Wand and Halo Glow Highlight Beauty Wand. They’re easy to blend, beginner-friendly and give a soft, natural-looking glow without breaking the bank ✨

If you loved that radiant, skin-like finish, Lumene Blur Even Coverage Foundation is definitely worth looking into.

It gives great coverage while still looking like real skin, and I find it feels comfortable to wear throughout the day 🌿

A good concealer is non-negotiable for me.

why i’m making the switch

Recently Charlotte Tilbury announced they will no longer be renewing their Cruelty Free International status. Charlotte Tilbury already sell in China and whilst they were registered Cruelty Free and subject to audits previously, them not renewing this certification means the products maybe subject to animal testing. This has put alot of mistrust in the brand and people are boycotting the brand. For good reason.

I think their reasoning behind not tendering their certification is not great, there are many brands which want to continue, as they genuinely care about animals and what their consumers want.

Everyone has their own reasons for choosing the brands they support, and I completely respect that. For me, independent cruelty-free certification gives me extra confidence when I’m deciding where to spend my money.

That doesn’t mean anyone needs to throw away the makeup they already own. In fact, I think finishing products before replacing them is the kinder choice for the planet too 🌍🐇

final thoughts

The good news is that choosing cruelty-free no longer means compromising on quality. There are so many amazing brands creating beautiful products, whether you’re after luxury formulas or affordable everyday favourites.
