Brown mascara has been a massive trend on social media for quite some time now. I mean, brown mascara has been around forever, but I think it’s become particularly popular alongside the clean-girl makeup trend, as it’s not quite as dark or dramatic on the eyes.
Personally, I prefer a soft brown, mocha or cappuccino-style mascara because it just doesn’t look as dramatic, especially for everyday makeup. And when I do wear makeup, it’s never usually super heavy anyway, so I find that brown mascara fits my style much better.
Since I started wearing brown mascara, I’ve noticed that my eye makeup just seems to blend together more seamlessly. Don’t get me wrong, I do reach for black mascara now and then, but I always seem to gravitate back towards a soft brown.
So, I thought I’d give you guys a little rundown of some of my favourite brown mascaras and share which ones I’ve been reaching for lately🤎☕️✨

bperfect cosmetics intensifeye intense length mascara – brown
Fluttery, fanned-out lashes? This one has you covered. It has a flexible, arrow-shaped wand, which makes it so easy to apply, even to the smallest lashes. There’s no flaking or sliding with this mascara, and it also contains castor oil, which is known to help nourish lashes and support healthy-looking growth.
technic intense lash mascara – brown
Such an affordable option at only £4.35, this mascara gives you clump-free, separated and voluminous lashes. It has a thin brush, which is perfect for building up both volume and length. I also love that this mascara is infused with jojoba oil, helping to care for and nourish your lashes as you wear it.
rimmel thrill seeker extreme mascara – cappuccino
This is one of my favourite mascaras, and I’ve been through multiple tubes of it. I love how fluffy it makes my lashes look thanks to the oversized fibre brush. It doesn’t rub off, smudge or flake, making it a really long-lasting formula. The Cappuccino shade is such a pretty, soft brown and really enhances my blue-green eyes.
what’s up beauty – watch me! volumizing and lengthening mascara – brown
I absolutely love this mascara! It really builds up the lashes and creates a long and voluminous look. The brown shade is quite dark, but it still gives that softer effect compared with a traditional black mascara.
I also love the innovative brush on this one. It has twisted bristles that grab onto every lash, helping to coat even those tiny lashes. It’s also infused with peptides and vitamin B5 to help support longer- and healthier-looking lashes.
rimmel thrill seeker mega lift mascara – brownie pie
I absolutely love this mascara! It’s relatively new and has one of the nicest wands. It’s super glossy and tapers at the end, making it really easy to reach those tricky inner and outer corners of the eyes.
The Brownie Pie shade is a beautiful neutral brown that looks soft and flattering on all eye colours.

Let me know if you’ve tried any of these brown mascaras and which ones are currently on your wishlist! 🤎 I definitely think brown mascara is here to stay, especially if you love a softer, more natural-looking makeup look. I personally love the way a brown mascara adds definition and length to the lashes without looking as intense as black mascara, making it perfect for everyday makeup and that effortless clean girl beauty look.
There are so many great brown mascaras available now, from affordable drugstore options to high-end formulas, so I’d love to know which ones you’re loving. Let me know if there’s a specific brown mascara, makeup product or beauty product you’d like me to review next in the comments below 👇🏻 🤎
