Product mentioned has been kindly gifted to me, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have been lusting after a pair of Dr. Martens Clarissa II sandals for as long as I could remember, I’ve saved so many fashion inspo photos on Pinterest, its a little embarrasing.
I am a massive Dr. Martens fan and have always had a pair of boots in my wardrobe, I’m currently rocking a blue pair and some cute Mary Jane sandals (for more formal occasions).
So….. Let’s chat about the Vegan Clarissa II Sandals. They are DM’s take on the classic gladiator sandal.
Did you know Dr Martens has a whole ass vegan range of boots, shoes and sandals?
Me being me, and wanting to lower my leather, and general animal product intake, wanted to try out the vegan leather option and see if it can live up to the regular leather hype.

Styling
The Clarissa II sandals are so fun, they have the same chunky, edgy style as the boots, but in a popular, summer friendly gladiator sandal style, they are extremely hard wearing and the buckle ankle straps keep them firmly in place. They are definitely a head turner and conversation starter.
For this Vegan alternative, Dr. Martens uses their go to Vegan material, Oxford leather – which is an ever so slightly patent synthetic leather substitute, which is just like the real thing, but made using absolutely no animal products. As with all Dr. Martens they have the signature PVC and air cushioned sole.
What I really love about Dr. Martens is that they can be dressed up with a cutesy ditsy dress or down with some jeans/joggers, they are so versatile. everyone needs to own a pair, a wardrobe essential.

Do I need to size up?
When choosing sandals, I usually worry about picking the strappy sandals, for the fear of feeling “trapped” but these sandals are very forgiving and will cater to a range of feet and ankle widths.
Sizing wise, for me, I choose my regular size, which is a 5 and they fit perfectly, so I would say for this style to go with your regular size, I wanted to mention this, as some styles you do need to size up or down.
Do they need wearing in?
As I mentioned, the sandals are hard wearing, but I need to mention, that they do require some “wearing in” time.
If you are a regular Dr. Martens wearer, you will know all too well what this means, as I’m sure we have all made the same mistake and wore a brand new pair without properly wearing them in…. The blisters!!
A neat trick is to use some (vegan) petroleum jelly and press the heel in and out to loosen the “leather” once they have been worn in, they are super comfortable, mould to your feet and you can stomp about looking pretty.
What do you think of the Dr. Martens vegan Clarissa II style, would you rock this style this spring/summer?
Due to the incredible quality and timeless design of these sandals, I can image these will last me many many moons, as Dr. Martens are built to last, it is their iconic appeal and what they are known for, so the sandals are no different.
