I wanted to do a little revamp of My Top 3 Primers for Oily Skin post from last year, as my style and taste has changed alot since then and I have to confess I’ve been swapping and changing primers (maybe a little too much) over the last year. Saying that, there have been a few stand out primers for me this year and I always find myself gravitating towards them.
Personally I find primers a tricky one, as over the last few years I have discovered so many don’t work for me & very few that do. I have oily skin so it is a little harder to find the right balance of matte/natural looking, I simply cannot wear silicone based primers, I’ve tried them to death and they just sit on top of my skin and my foundation literally slides off, it’s mad, so I have found myself using some more “creamy” primers, which I have been getting along with so far! So here are my top 3 primers for oily skin;
Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre the 24-Hour Miracle Creamb
I am obsessed with this cream, it is a well known favourite and cult product, used by makeup artists on catwalk runway shows for a good reason, it not only moisturises deeply, it primes skin too, it leaved skin moisturised and hydrated for 24 hours and keeps skin looking fresh and radiant even under makeup.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!
FENTY BEAUTY Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer
I just had to buy this when it was released, because RHIANNA!!! and I am so glad I did as I love it! I love the finish of this primer, its almost more like a moisturiser, which i like in my primers, I prefer this texture to the silicone feel primers, it leaves skin feeling soft and hydrated. I love using this with my Fenty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation, they are a match made in heaven.
BECCA First Light Priming Filter
Ok so this is one you would’t expect to be on this list, as it is a luminous primer, but I have found that this one really works for me, it brightens any dullness to my skin, due to the violet tint and leaves the most gorgeous glowy finish. I find that if I use a matte foundation on top of this my skin still has a gorgeous natural glow underneath, my makeup doesn’t slide off at all, so I really recommend this if you are on the look out for a luminous primer, it is a little pricey, at £28 – but it is a high quality product and you dont need to use much each application.
What are your favourite primers to use? Let me know in the comments below, I’m always looking for new products and brands to try.
