So what is the Spring equinox? Well it is a celestial event that marks the start of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. During this time, the sun moves directly over the equator, resulting in an equal amount of daylight and darkness. Finally those light evenings are back, I cannot wait to have iced coffees in the garden again!
This occurrence takes place on either March 19th, 20th or 21st each year (20th March for 2023) and the term “equinox” comes from the Latin words for “equal night” we love a bit of education here. The spring equinox signals a time to renewal and growth as nature awakens from its winter slumber. My personal favourite time of year ~ we also welcome the fox family and cubs in our garden this time of year, which is truly magical!

This is the time of year where the plants and flowers begin to bloom, animals emerge from hibernation, and temperatures start to rise (YES!). I feel like I’ve been waiting for forever for Spring to arrive this year, I need some colour on my pale, grey skin!! Many cultures celebrate this momentous occasion with festivals and rituals to welcome the new season. Overall, the spring equinox symbolizes a fresh start and reminds us of the cyclical nature of life. So beautiful.
At the start of the Spring equinox is a perfect time for a little skincare detox where you can cleanse your skin and welcome rejuvenation naturally. It’s a good idea to incorporate more refreshing ingredients such as green tea. aloe vera gel. and Vitamin C into your daily routine.

Given that all living things are affected by the rhythms and cycles of nature, such as the pull of the moon, sea, sun or the changing of the seasons. it is a particularly crucial time for our health and welfare. So it’s a great time to focus on yourself, look after your body, skin and mind. Skincare is self care after all.
Taking care of your skin in preparation for the new season will make it easier to achieve glowing and healthy looking skin all year round. I love to use tons of hydrating products through spring and summer, bathe me in those Hyaluronic acids and ceramides!
Will you be having a skincare detox?
