It’s a new year, start of a new week. What better time than to give your blog a little revamp! I wanted to share with you a few simple tips that have really helped me improve the look and feel of my blog.
Custom Theme
This is the first thing people will see when they visit you site, so it’s important to makes this stand out, not be too busy and has to be easy to navigate. There are absolutely tons of reasonably priced custom themes on Etsy ~ you do not have to spend hundreds ~ please don’t. My theme cost around £30 and every aspect is customisable so I can grow with it. Themes are generally easy to install and easily customisable, you can tailor them to your exact taste. I have used a fair few themes, but my current is my absolute favourite. It a great first step to improving your blog.

Custom Fonts
Ok so you may be a little scared of this one at first m, as sounds daunting, but once you have the correct plugins and found your find, it’s easy peasy. I use the plugin useanyfont on WordPress to upload the tiff font files from DaFont ~ it’s free and easy to use. Basically you assign these fonts to headers, I have a gorgeous script font for my guessers, it really does add something special and unique to your blog and it’s FREE!!
Instagram Feed
Adding your Instagram feed to your blog is a really important and a great way to showcase your account. I have a banner positioned at the bottom of my page. Most up to date themes support some kind of Instagram feed widget, but there are so many plugins available, you can use any to add your feed to your header, footer or side bar.

Shop this Post
I love using these widgets on my posts. If you are a member of the shopstyle affiliate programme, you can easily create a visual widget to showcase products you are mentioning about in a post, this also acts as commissions ~ albeit small but a great way to earn a little extra coin ~ especially if you are a beauty or fashion blogger.
Blog Header
Having a custom banner is a really good way to showcase what your blog is about in a graphic. There are lots of places to get these custom designed for you, so many designers on twitter, Fiverr or Etsy. I have a few banners, as I like to switch it up every now and then on my social media. My current YouTube banner was designed by Art by Lena and cost me £12 ~ which shows, you don’t have to spend huge amounts on a custom design.

I hope this helped a little with your blog designing journey. I am always learning new things around blogging, there are limitless plugins and apps to improve your blog, it’s just a case if knowing what you what to showcase and what will fit with your niche.
